Gladiator - a film review

„Gladiator“ is an epic historical drama film, directed by Ridley Scott in 2000. In the main roles star Russel Crowe, Joaquin Phoenix and Connie Nielsen. The film was nominated in 36 individual ceremonies, including the Oscars, the BAFTAs and the Golden Globes. „Gladiator“ won 48 prizes out of 119 award nominations.

The movie was shot in three main locations - England, Morocco and Malta, between January and May 1999.

I really like the plot of the film. Russel Crowe plays a Roman General Maximus, who is tracked, when Commodus, the son of emperor Marcus Aurelius murders his father, comes to power and seizes the throne. Maximus is sold as a slave. He becomes a gladiator, who wants to avenge the murders of his family and his emperor.

I really recommend this amazing film and think, that everyone should see „Gladiator“. Not only because it is one of the most perfect movies ever made, but because it tells us a simple story about the most important things in our lives. It tells us about good and evil and about those invisible moral borders, which make us humans.
